ZELTIQ Aesthetics, Inc., a medical technology company, recently announced that it received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for using its clinically-proven CoolSculpting procedure for treating a patient’s thigh area.
As a result, the company can now use its full range of applicators (including CoolSmooth and CoolFit) for treatment of the thigh area. The CoolSculpting procedure incorporates both the CoolSmooth and CoolFit applicators in order to treat the complete thigh area.
ZELTIQ is best known for its CoolSculpting procedure, which is already FDA-approved for the abdomen and flank areas. CoolSculpting is a non-surgical procedure that reduces fat in the treated areas for good. Developed by Harvard scientists, this innovative procedure has been on the market since 2009, and has proven to be a safe and effective treatment for eliminating unwanted fat permanently. With CoolSculpting, downtime is very minimal, and you don’t have to miss work, wear binding garments, or change bandages. Best of all, there are no restrictions on any of your activities or diet, and for the most part, people return to work within a few days.
The medical term for CoolSculpting is cryolipolsyis, a procedure wherein the surgeon uses a cooling device (or applicator) that freezes the fat while protecting the surrounding tissue. During procedure, the device is placed over the desired body area, which in turn goes to work by freezing the underlying fat cells.
