Dr John Barrett is President of the New Zealand College of Appearance Medicine and Medical Director of Palm Clinic; New Zealands leading Appearance Medicine Clinic. He had the privilege of training with Dr Jeffrey Klein who developed tumescent liposuction and now performs 4-5 cases of liposuction a week. Dr Barrett is the only New Zealand doctor on the liposuction register of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery and the only New Zealand doctor with a Diploma in Lipoplasty from the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr Barrett offers liposuction (liposculpture) using Dr Kleins tumescent anaesthetic technique for all parts of the body where there is abnormal contouring or excess pads of fat. This includes abdomen, hips, thighs, mons pubis, ankles and calves, breast reduction, male breasts and love handles etc. With the tumescent technique patients are able to return to work on day 3 and generally only wear garments for 3 days.

Dr Barrett also offers fat transfer to the face for facial rejuvenation – this is mainly used for the cheeks and for lip augmentation.

Palm Clinic also offers laser treatments for varicose veins, skin tightening with Polaris, fractional resurfacing with Fraxel, laser hair reduction, red vein and pigment removal with Elos Aurora.
