If you want to lose those extra inches around the waist or around the thighs, “tumescent” PureLipo appears as an excellent option because it is performed totally under local anesthesia. The word "tumescent" means swollen and firm. By injecting a large volume of very dilute lidocaine (local anesthetic) into the subcutaneous fat, the targeted tissue becomes swollen and firm, or tumescent. The tumescent technique is a method that provides local anesthesia to large volumes of subcutaneous fat and thus permits the removal of collections of fat totally by local anesthesia.

The tumescent technique eliminates the need for general anesthesia or for intravenous narcotics and sedatives. The use of tumescent local anesthesia and of microcannulas (less than 3 mm) allow a safe procedure and prevent many of the complications typically associated with liposuction under general anesthesia.

Other areas which may be treated by this technique include the hips and buttocks, the back, the arms as well as the face and neck.

About Dr. Miller

Dr. Normand Miller received his M.D. from Laval University in Quebec City, Canada. After a surgical residency at McGill University in Montreal, he completed a two year fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Englewood Hospital, New Jersey. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is Board Certified in Vascular Surgery.

Over the last few years, he concentrated his expertise on the treatment of vein disease and focused on the expanding field of Aesthetic Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Phlebology and of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

As part of his commitment to providing the best possible care for his patients, he spent time mastering the technique of skin laser, then trained under Dr. McQuillan of The Ageless Aesthetic Institute for the use of Botox and fillers, under Dr. Roman Chubaty of the International Mesotherapy Lipotherapy Society for LipoDissolve, and under Dr. Jeffrey Klein, the inventor of Tumescent Liposuction Totally by Local Anesthesia.

As Medical Director of the Aesthetic and Vein Center MD, Dr. Miller is always available on the premises. He is supported by caring and knowledgeable staff, including a Nurse Laser Specialist, an Aesthetician as well as Registered Nurses, who all have an extensive background experience in their respective fields.
