Information for Liposuction Surgeons:
How to Become an Liposuction Clinical Trials Investigator

Protocol Code Name:
LaserLipoRCT

Name of Clinical Trial:
Laser Liposuction vs. Tumescent Liposuction: Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

Liposuction.Com is helping this investigator-initiated (self-funded) research into the relative merits of laser liposuction and tumescent liposuction by means of a multicenter controlled randomized clinical trial (RCT).

Western Institutional Review Board (WIRB) will provide IRB approval for this laser liposuction research project. WIRB is an organization which protects the rights and welfare of the human research subject. An application for approval of this research will be submitted by the principal investigator (PI) to WIRB after potential collaborators (perhaps you) have had the opportunity to contribute suggestions and criticisms. Once this laser liposuction study has achieved WIRB approval, all of the "WIRB-approved" documents will be available online at Liposuction.Com where you will be able to download them. This research cannot begin until WIRB has given its approval. You are welcome to read the "draft" versions of this laser liposuction Research Protocol and the Consent Form in the set of Laser Lipo Research Documents. This laser liposuction randomized clinical trial will be registered at www.clinicaltrials.gov.

If you are a liposuction surgeon who wishes to participate as co-investigator in this international multicenter controlled randomized clinical trial (RCT) you can learn about the requirements to become a participating sub-investigator by reading requirements for surgeons participating in the laser liposuction clinical trial. To participate in a WIRB-approved clinical trial a researcher must meet certain requirements and obtain WIRB approval.

Please email your suggestions and comments to the principal investigator (PI) of the laser liposuction trial: Email Jeffrey Klein.
We would be happy to consider your suggestions for improving the design of this RCT.

Example of photos (5-months post-op) to be used for online survey to determine which side has the best cosmetic result.Judging to be done by both liposuction surgeons and the general public. Judges will be presented blinded post surgery images with no prior knowledge of which side had laser or tumescent liposuction performed.
