After Your Liposuction Surgery - Maintenance with Smoothies!

After Your Liposuction Surgery - Maintenance with Smoothies!

Adopting a healthier lifestyle after your liposuction surgery is a great idea for many reasons. First of all, who doesn't want to be healthier? Second, maintaining a stable weight will keep your post-liposuction body looking great. Weight gain can cause distortion in the liposuction area and new fat cells can be created to replace the ones that were removed. And if you've finally achieved the slim, toned thighs you've always wanted, don't you want the great body to go with it?

Living healthy doesn't have to be boring and it sure doesn't mean that you have to eat salads all day. If you're like me and you don't like the taste of cooked greens, here's another great way to get spinach, carrot greens and even kale in your diet: put them in smoothie!

Smoothies can be low-fat, low-calorie, and low-carb. Or they can be bulked up with nut butters and other forms of protein to replace a meal. If you're watching your figure, be cautious about what you're putting in your smoothie. Not all of them are created equal! Not that there's anything wrong with a higher-calorie smoothie; you just want to be sure you're drinking it instead of a meal. And how about those greens? Well, with the right combination of flavors, you'll never taste that spinach in there!

Here are some ways to mix-and-match your smoothie ingredients:

Start with:

Ice OR Frozen blueberries/bananas/strawberries/mangoes/pineapples

Add:

  • Fresh fruit
  • Fresh veggies, such as carrots, beets, or even sweet potato!
  • 1-2 cups of baby spinach or if you're feeling adventurous, some kale

Finish with:

  • Yogurt
  • Cow's milk
  • Almond milk
  • Soy milk
  • Coconut milk (great with bananas!)

OR

  • Fruit juices, for a dessert smoothie

Protein add-ins:

  • Peanut butter
  • Almond butter
  • Nutella
  • Other nut butters
  • Egg whites, depending on your comfort level with raw eggs
  • Protein powders

Top with:

  • Shredded coconut
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Dried fruit chips
  • Granola

And there you have it...a delicious way to get all your food groups in one convenient, delicious drink!
