Breast Liposuction Instead of a Breast Reduction Surgery?

Breast Liposuction Instead of a Breast Reduction Surgery?

Liposuction is a very versatile procedure that can be used in many more instances than you might imagine. In fact, liposuction is an excellent alternative to more invasive and serious surgeries. You may hear about abdominal liposuction being a great alternative to a tummy tuck and likewise, if a woman is the right candidate, tumescent liposuction of the breasts can be an excellent way to reduce breast size without undergoing a full breast reduction surgery.

Breast reduction surgery is for women who have abnormally large breasts that may be causing negative physical impact on their body. For example, women with very large breasts may experience back or neck problems, poor posture, nerve damage and permanent indentations on their shoulder from their bras. If a woman chooses to undergo a full breast reduction, there may be scarring because the procedure involves the removal of tissue and then closing the wound with sutures. There also may be damage to the nipples and it may impact the ability to breast feed in the future.

For some women, if they have a large amount of fatty tissue in their breasts, a breast liposuction will reduce the volume of the breast, and even in some cases create a breast lift like result. Using a micro canula, a liposuction doctor will remove excess fat and the result is a breast shaped the way it used to be, but with less volume. Because there is less weight, the breast skin and musculature can naturally tighten, creating a lift like result.

Breast liposuction is a surgery but is far less traumatic to the body because there is no large wound that needs to heal. Your small incisions will be left open to heal naturally and will, in most cases, leave little or no scars at all. Additionally, if you get tumescent liposuction, you may be back to work in as soon as three days.

Not all women are optimal candidates for breast liposuction. If a woman wants to reduce the size of her breasts by more than 55%, if a woman has more fibrous glandular tissue than fatty tissue or if a woman wants the actual shape of her breast to change, she will want to consider the traditional breast reduction surgery.

The best thing to do is consult a board certified and successful liposuction surgeon who will be able to advise you on whether or not the procedure will work for you. But consider breast reduction liposuction as an alternate if you are a good candidate!
