Putting the Freeze on Fat

What do you do when you’re ready to take charge of your health? With the help of an experienced and reputable doctor, you begin a fitness plan and also consider one of the many innovative non-invasive weight-loss solutions on the market, of course!

That’s exactly what Jerry Long in Bloomfield, Connecticut did, reports a recent story on NBCConnecticut.com. “I kept looking at my stomach and it wasn’t what I wanted it to be,” he told the online news source. Not only did board–certified internist Dr. Desmond Ebanks at Alternity Healthcare in West Hartford promptly put Jerry on a comprehensive fitness plan, but he also included a prescription for Zerona Laser treatments, an FDA-approved cold laser technology that is indicated to help reduce fat on the waist, buttocks and thighs.

For $2,500, Jerry received the minimum suggested two weeks of Zerona treatments, which were administered every other day. Each treatment took 40 minutes for the laser to treat his mid-section and upper legs. Because Zerona is a “cold” laser, the treatment is painfree, according to the Zerona Laser manufacturer.

Here’s how the manufacturer says the Zerona Laser works:

Through clinical studies it has been demonstrated that the Zerona low level laser stimulates the fat cell to emulsify (liquefy) the fat within the cell. Then the liquefied fat moves from inside the cell through a temporary pore formed in the cell membrane to outside the cell where it is in the interstitial space until absorbed by the lymphatic system. This results in millions of fat cells becoming smaller so inches are reduced off the waist, hips and thighs. The fat cells are not injured in any way by this process.

As for results, the online news source quotes Jerry as saying, “Yes, I’ve noticed my pants are falling off of me.” But they also point out that his results are attributed to many factors, including eating a healthy diet and doing 30 minutes of exercise per day. During the two weeks of his Zerona Laser treatment, he also upped his water intake and eliminated alcohol altogether.

Dr. Ebanks told NBCConnecticut that the Zerona Laser ultimately got his attention with the clinical trial results that showed after only two weeks’ treatment, 84 percent of those in the study had lower triglycerides and cholesterol levels.

A miracle treatment? Not quite. At the end of the day, the message from Dr. Ebanks remains the same. He told the online news source that he continues to remind patients that maintaining results requires maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
